Gunpla Pre-orders and New Releases for January-February 2023

So what did you think about the concluding episode of part one of Gundam: The Witch From Mercury? Let’s just say we won’t be able to look at ketchup the same way for a while.

In case you missed it, we just posted Peter’s review of the HG Gundam Aerial kit! (We previously published Nerissa’s review of HG Gundam Lfrith.) Overall, we’ve been excited to go all-in on this new series, starting with reviews of as many of its kits as possible. Gunpla New Releases for January 2023

MGSD Freedom Gundam (pictured at top)

We’re kicking off 2023 with a new grade that combines the best of two existing grades: MG and SD. It integrates MG tech with the proportions of an SD, so you get that exaggerated cute look without sacrificing any of the articulation for posing. I’m excited to check it out.

1/144 HG Michaelis (pictured above)

This is the Grassley-produced mobile suit custom-made for Shaddiq. This purple-and-white suit with the diamond-shaped viewplate is perfect for one of G-Witch’s most enigmatic characters—and that’s saying something. We love its supermodel walk pose, shown here.

1/144 HG Beguir-Pente

The mobile suit preferred by the other members of Grassley House. An upgrade on the Beguir-Beu, this purple menace uses beam weapons which can be stored on the backside of the cross-shaped shield when not in use.

1/144 HG Mirasoul Flight Unit

These high-maneuver parts are designed to work with the sold-separately Gundam Aerial. It also includes a few odds and ends like an outstretched flat hand for the Aerial, you know, for recreating THAT scene.

SDW Heroes Superior Strike Freedom Dragon

Gundam series may come and go, but SDW Heroes kits appear to be forever! This latest one is spikier than the knife chair in Knives Out and decked out in a blinding, ostentatious gold.
