Gundam Anime And Manga To Give

These Gundam anime and manga come so highly recommended that, when I got ready to make an image collage of our holiday picks, I discovered we already owned them all! Some are new releases, some are over a decade old, but all are fantastic.

1. Mobile Fighter G-Gundam: Complete First Collection

Combining Gundam with martial arts, G-Gundam is a unique classic. Sorry, Tomokazu Seki’s—Domon Kasshu’s voice actor’s—autograph not included. You’ll just have to wait in line for hours like we did! This is just the first half of the G-Gundam story. To get the second, you’ll want to look for the Complete Second Collection.

2. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing – Complete Collection 1

This was both mine and John’s first Gundam ever after it aired on Toonami in the ’90s. Relive the show that introduced a generation of Americans to the Gundam franchise with this collection. Once again, this is a two-part collection—here’s the second collection!

3. Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Vol 1  [Vol 2, Vol 3, Vol 4, Vol 5, Vol 6, Vol 7]

A defining capstone on the universal century, Gundam Unicorn features some of the most innovative mecha designs in ages, including the gorgeous and iconic Unicorn Gundam. All seven episodes are available on Blu-ray for especially high quality animation. Not a Blu-ray fan? It’s also on DVD in an ongoing release.

4. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin Vol 1 [Vol 2, Vol 3, Vol 4, Vol 5, Vol 6, Vol 7

A detail-rich ongoing retelling of the original Mobile Suit Gundam. We don’t know what we love more: the stunning watercolor paintings of our favorite mecha, or the enhanced stories of Amuro, Char, and Sayla that we never knew we needed.

5. Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Complete Collection One

This is the series that brought Gundam into the 21st century. With compelling character design and digital animation, Seed is a modern retelling of the most enduring facets of the Gundam universe. Note: we’re old fans and bought this when only the individual DVD releases were available. Now, as the link shows, you can buy it in two collections—here’s collection two.
